No big BBQ with extended family, because while some places are opening up again, everything is at half capacity, still need to "social distance" by staying at least 6 feet away from anyone outside of your household. We did have Grammy, the two Grandpas, and H stop by for cupcakes.
Today I took him to his 12 month check up. This is the second time I have taken a child in to the doctor with everyone having to wear a face mask. The baby can't wear one, obviously, so I carried him in his car seat with the cloth privacy cover over him. He can say Ma, Dada, and Nah-nah, which he often uses with Ma because I think he is trying to say he wants to nurse. He crawls like a champ, pulls himself up on everything, leans over baskets and bins to pull stuff out, but still can't use the pincer move with his fingers yet. He is learning to hold his sippy/bottle, but can't seem to get food to his mouth.
His stats: Weight 20 lbs 9 oz 40%, Length 31 inches 90%, Head 17.5 inches 12%. He is growing tall and wears 18 month clothes, just like his brothers at this age.
With the pandemic, there has been a re-emergence of drive-in movies. Movie theaters were just allowed to re-open, but some of them converted parking lots in to showing 2-3 drive-in screens. Tonight we saw Zootopia at our first family drive-in experience. Zootopia is an appropos movie with the racial tensions and social unrest currently being felt in our country. It's prey and predators trying to live in peace instead of different races and cultural traditions. The littlest kids got a little restless and moved around a lot, but it was a good experience and we were able to do an outing without any meltdowns or anyone getting lost. Yay! (How did I pull it off? I fed everyone lots of snacks and let my oldest sit in the front seat where little kids wouldn't be constantly climbing over him so there was zero rough housing.)
